Bottles – Wine Making Equipment:
Wine is almost always packaged in glass bottles. Wine bottles come in various sizes. Most common are the standard 750ml and the half bottles (375 ml). Most wine comes in 750ml size. Other uncommon bottle sizes are 1.5L, 2.25L, 3L, 4.5L and the Imperial (6.0L). Bottles vary in color green and amber, with clear bottles being popular in the storage of white and dessert wines.
Corks – Wine Making Equipment:
Wine bottles generally have cork stoppers. Your run-of-the-mill agglomerated cork will sell for around 20 US cents each. Agglomerated cork is basically pieces of cork glued together. The top-quality cork that wineries use cost about 75 US cents each. This higher grade cork is made from one solid piece of cork bark and it is less likely to break into pieces when opened. Synthetic cork is a viable option. Synthetic cork is cheap – you can buy a bulk amount of synthetic cork for 20 US cents each. This means it is as inexpensive as agglomerated cork. But synthetic cork is superior to agglomerated cork because cork spoilage is avoided.
